Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a skin condition that appears as red, scaling patches most commonly of the elbows, knees and scalp. Over seven million people in this country have some form of psoriasis. It can be mild, moderate or severs and can affect nails and be associated with arthritis.
Treatment of psoriasis depends on type, severity and location, patient age and health and impact on lifestyle. Topical treatments include corticosteroids, vitamin D, and tar-based products. Uitraviolet light treatments can be helpful. Systemic medications are available for more severe cases.
